Guy de Selliers – Co-founder and President

Guy de Selliers has more than forty-five years of experience in international finance and business. He was a co-founder of HCF International Advisers Ltd., a corporate-finance advisory firm specialising in the mining and metals sectors, which has since merged with another sector-focused advisory firm, Hannam & Partners. He is Executive Chairman of Defense Metals, a Canadian rare-earth mining company listed in Toronto. He is a director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Cranemere, which manages a private-equity portfolio of more than USD 2 billion. He is also a director of I-Pulse, a technology unicorn.
He began his career in June 1977 at the World Bank, in the mining division, before joining Lehman Brothers as a Senior Vice President in international investment banking. In July 1990, he joined the team responsible for establishing the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), where he served as Vice-Chairman of the Credit Committee and as a member of the Executive Committee. After leaving the EBRD, he ran an investment bank specialising in Eastern Europe before joining Robert Fleming & Co. He has also had a long career as a board member of major companies, including Solvay and Ageas in Belgium, Norilsk Nickel in Russia, Ivanhoe Mines in Canada, among others.
Mr de Selliers holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Louvain.
